Protected

Last night, storms passed through our area. We came upstairs about 10:30 and heard that there was a tornado warning in our area. Then the tornado sirens started to go off. We got the kids out of bed and headed to the basement (along with Grandpa Portis who was visiting us this weekend). We have a couch down there and an old TV from my room as a kid (it is black and white with an anenea that will not be working when they convert to digital). We listened to the news until the power went out. It did not seem that bad from the corner of the basement I was sitting with my sleeping baby girl and trying to sleep little boy. But, when we got up this morning, we realized how close we were to the worst part of the storm. If you turn out of our neigborhood and go East about a quarter of a mile, the damage was aweful. Three homes were destoyed, and many more were damaged. Click here for a slideshow of the damage. Today was a reminder that the Lord is our protector.

I echo everyone else that I'm very glad that the storm missed you and that my little family is safe.

I was thinking of you guys. All our sirens went off too but it was barely raining at our house. I looked at the map and all I could think was, it looks like it's right by Sandy's house. I'm glad ya'll are ok. We got up the next morning and I realized it wasn't that far away and hoped you guys were ok because it definitely was near you.

That would be me and not Natalie that made that last post - somehow she's still signed in on my computer.
