Carson's athletics

I just thought I would share Carson's soccer picture for the Spring. We did not get to go to the actual pictures so I just took one myself. I think it turned out better than his Fall one made by the professional. This Saturday was suppose to be our last game, but with the rain we have make up games Sunday and next Saturday. Carson still is not very good, but he loves running around with everyone. Maybe we will try t-ball next.
Carson has swimming lessons today. He really loves the water. As a matter of fact, he always has. It is the one place where he has never really been timid. He was swimming short distances the summer he was one. He was always cautious, but would swim out to you without any flotation device. Most of the other kids his age have caught up with him in the skill level, but he really loves lessons. The place we go for lessons has certificates with 10 stickers. He has 4 right now. To get 10 he basically has to swim every stroke-including butterfly-the entire length of the pool. But, the kids is determined. He does not want to quit until he has all of the stickers. He is doing well with free style and is working on breast stroke and back stroke. Once our pool opens for the summer I will have to get a video for you. Where he has lessons, I can not sit close enough to video anything.

Helping herself

I promise I don't make it up when I say Macie is into everything! This is what happened when she wanted the milk on the kitchen table.

You know that commercial where the parents say it will be a miracle is she lives to be .... It is an old one, but it certainly describes Macie. In the 4 hours we were home and she was awake on Sunday, she managed to hit her head very hard twice. Once she was in Carson's room and we don't even know what happened. She has a bruise over her eye to show for it. Later, she decided she was done with her shower so she opened the door and walked out. The tile floor is very slippery so she fell and busted her head again. That time it scared Carson to the point where he was sobbing too. And, I continue to wonder why I don't get anything done!

Chatanooga

Saturday afternoon, we drove up to Chattanooga for Day out with Thomas. We had a great time riding Thomas, swimming at the hotel, sleeping in the hotel (Carson loved it!), and visiting the aquarium. Here are a few pictures.
Carson and Macie in the outfits I made them for the day.

Eli, Carter, and Carson walking down to the train yard.

Jeff and the kids with Thomas and the conductor.

Macie checking out the otters at the aquarium Addison and Macie. I can not get a picture of both of them looking at the camera!

It was nice to have a weekend away. I am finally healthy, but I fell off the curb as we were leaving and messed up my food a little. Hopefully, it will be back to normal in a couple days!

Carson is "that" kid

You know how at every kids concert you ever go to there is one kids who everyone is laughing at. He is usually louder and more animated than the other kids. Well, today was Carson's spring musical at school. He was cetainly "that" kid standing front and center. (He has on the plaid shorts and blue shirt just left of the teachers head) This is a short clip that does not do him justice, but I knew a large file would not load! If you are ever at out house ask to watch the other songs on my laptop.

New Outfits

3rd post of the day..keep reading.
(Since I am not feeling great, I am spending time on the couch getting caught up on blogging!)

My friend Amy has really gotten into sewing. She has made her little guy Bryce several cute outfits. She made this very sweet dress for Macie. (Yes she is wearing her jammie under her dress)

This Sunday Amy had Holly and I over to try sewing on our own. Since we are going to Chatanooga to ride Thomas this weekend, I thought I would try to make a Thomas dress for Macie. I figured if I messed it would not be a big deal. I still have to out the buttons on and hem it. I am also hoping to make Carson a shirt for the weekend as well. If I feel better I will work on it!

(thanks Amy for the picture I stole off your blog)

Weekend visit and Braves game

2nd post of the day. Keep reading

Grandpa Portis came to visit this weekend. We decided to take everyone to the Braves game Saturday afternoon. Carson did great, and Macie did okay for a toddler who wants to be walking around. We made it to the 7th inning stretch, so I thought that was good. Here are a few photos.

Sick Mama Growing Girl

I spent today visiting 3 different doctors. I started the day at the family doctor for me. I have been sick for close to 2 weeks, but I kept feeling better. Last night when I got home from Amy's I was feeling terrible. I have a temp of over 102 (Amy and Holly I hope you don't get sick!). So, I was at the Urgent Care when they opened this morning. And, I have strep throat. I really don't feel as bad as I should, but I now have and antibiotic. Hopefully, it will also take care of all my congestion too.

The next visit was with my mom to Dr. Harbens. He is a rehab doctor. This appointment lasted 2 hours. Basically he was testing her cognitave ability and really working on her left arm. He will continue to work with her to hopefully get that arm working. We all really liked him.

The final visit was for Macie's 15 month check up. With as cranky as she has been I really thought she would have an ear infection or something else. But, she was perfectly healthy. She was delightful with the nurses and even opened her mouth and said Ahh when the doctor asked her too. She has basically stayed on the same curve since she was a little squirt. Here are her stats.

Height 30 3/4 inches 50-75 percentile
Weight 20#12 ounces 10-25 percentile
Head 46 1/4 cm 50 percentile

She had her MMR shot today. I thought about not letting her have it, but since it was the only one I went ahead with it. She has actually been in the best mood I have seen her in weeks. I don't know if it is because she took 2 almost 2 hour naps this morning or the tylonol we were giving her because of her shot. I am just hoping she gets to stay at school tomorrow so I can get a couple things done (If I am feeling up for it)

Sent home

Poor Macie was sent home from school today. She would not let her teachers put her down. As soon as they did she would just cry. When she cried she coughed and when she coughed it was barky. So, her teacher called Mitzi who called me to go get her. She isn't really coughing much. It just sounds bad when she does cough. She was at the doctor on Friday, and they did not find anything really wrong with her. Today she started back on her inhaler a few times a day. Hopefully she will be able to stay on Thursday!

Non stop chatter!

I don't know what has gotten into my boy. He has been a chatter box for 2 days. For those of you who know him, you know he doesn't talk just to talk. But, the last couple days he talks all the time. He even talked to random strangers in the grocery store.

We went to get both kids shoes on Saturday. Macie's feet had grown more than a size, so she needed some shoes. Carson wears his tennis shoes out very quickly so he needed some too. While we were there we also got the kids Crocs. Carson told me awhile ago that he needed Crocs when he was 4. He hasn't said anything else about them, but he obviously really wanted them. He had to go see Cole and Connor on Sunday to show iff his new shoes. Jeff let him pick the color out so if you see them don't blame me! (He is wearing his "new brown sandles" in this picture at the zoo. I will get one of him in his crocs soon)

Spring Break

If you have some time...enjoy the photos from our Spring Break. We went to the park, to play putt putt, out on Grandpa's boat, to get ice cream, and to the zoo. There are lots of photos...as usual.

Spring Break

Rene' and her kids are here for Spring Break. I have tons of pictures, but I will post them when they leave (in a video!). Here are a few from Monday. We went to Woodstock First Baptist play ground and putt putting. I am sure the lay out for this will be crazy. My preview never looks like it does when I post!

6 Years

Yesterday was Jeff and my 6th anniversary (Happy 5th Landons). We spent the weekend at the FamilyLife Weekend to Remember. We had wanted to go on a real trip, but with everyting going on with my mom it did not happen. Jeff was not excited about it at first, but he warmed up to the idea. We both really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others. Here is Jeff doing his work before one of the sessions. I think technically he was either praying or waiting for me to finish.
Saturday night they have date night built into the schedule. Here is a picture before we went out for the night. I thought it turned out fairly well for a timed picture in a hotel room.
Hopefully, we will be able to go on a real trip for an anniversary soon, but in the mean time, we would return to the conference and potentially take some of you with is.

Report card and a few pictures

Carson's school usually has a conference at the end of the 3 yr old school year. For some reason this year they decided to send home the reports instead. If I want a conference, his teacher will be happy to set one up. So, today Carson had his first report card come home. He had a check for "most of the time" in all categories. My little introvert still plays a lot on his own, and will enter cooperative play when others start it. He loves school, and I know he knows what he should at this point.

Yesterday, we had a beautiful day. Here are a few pictures.

The view out our family room
window. You can not really tell,
but it is beautiful.
Macie playing with the tree
Trying to ride the tricycle. She loves wearing a helmet!

One of my favorite pictures from this week. Macie is working on her 3rd molar. I can see it poking through the gum, but it has not broken through yet. It seems to have been really hurting her. Sometimes, she cries when she bites down on something. Tuesday night after she ate a little dinner, I gave her a popsicle. Walmart has these great mini popsicles that are suppose to be slow melt. Macie would not be a good advertisement for the slow melt part, but it seemed to make her feel better! Notice she has the thing shoved as far back as she can get it.

Poor Macie

I looked at our refridgerator today and noticed something. There are 15 pictures of Carson and not one of Macie. His pictures go from the day after he was born to his fall soccer picture. Maybe it's time to print some of the photos I take!
After bath-she was snuggling, but looked up when she saw the camera.
