Cute C Pictures

I finally got around to loading pictures off my camera. It has been awhile since I posted pictures of Carson. I need to go some editing so the others are not so large, but here is a preview.

T-ball started last Saturday. I have some fun actions shots, but I love this pictures. If you look closely, you can see the cinnamon from his bagel he had before the game. I guess the sun was bothering him. We have the next 2 Saturdays off because of Spring Break, so I think I might have a baby by the next game!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Carson from his birthday party. He is making his wish before blowing out his candles. Again, I will try to edit and get pictures up some day soon.

36 weeks

We are finally within a month of meeting baby P. I am hoping it will be a lot sooner than 4 weeks, but I guess we will wait and see. As long as things have started naturally, the midwife will induce in 3 weeks. I don't know that we are really ready, but my body is over being pregnant! I was trying to be positive this week and think about what I will miss about not being pregnant. I could come up with a lot more that I will not miss. But, I will say it is pretty cool to be able to see the baby moving around under your skin.

Macie is back to her normal self. She has been sleeping really late this week-well for her. The days that Jeff was not able to take Carson to the bus stop I have had to leave her in bed. Thankfully we have good neighbors who will watch him until the bus gets there. This morning I dropped him off and came straight home. Poor girl was in the family room crying. I asked her if she knew where I went and she said "at the bus stop." So, at least she knew where I was. I am hoping this sleeping later will last through Spring Break when we can all sleep a little later. (Unless baby decides to come by then)

Carson had his first baseball game of the season Saturday. He is in a league that has the coach pitch 3 times and then they hit off the tee. His first game, he hit a really hard foul ball from a pitch, but he ended up getting all of his hits off the tee. I can not even begin to tell you how much he has improved since last spring. It is not like we are practicing during the off season. Our team has Carson, his buddies Cole, Connor and Carter, and then a set of twins Colby and another Carson. It is crazy with all the C's. Thankfully we know 4 of them, but I bet it is crazy for the other families.

He is still doing really well in school. It is hard to believe how close he is to the end of the year. His little reading group has been doing accelerated reader test. They usually start in first grade, but his teacher has them working on them. He really loves it. He seems to get all the answers correct, but I only hear about it from him. I know he was ahead when he started Kindergarten then a lot of other kids, but I have been impressed with how he does in reading. We always knew he was good at math, but his report card shows him doing better in reading.

Once day I will get some new pictures up. I am spending a lot of my free time right now working on swim team stuff. I am basically the head of a small group trying to start our first swim team in the neighborhood. Once we get it all going, my job will be much smaller, but I will have an infant by then. I promise I will have pictures of the baby.

Sickies and Great Mom Award

The last couple of days Macie has been coughing. She has always had a tendency to get bad coughs. But, this winter she has done fairly well. Sunday morning, she woke up and was coughing just a bit. Certainly nothing to be concerned about, but just enough to think we should watch it. On Monday she was about the same. Her BFF Addison, stayed home from school because she appeared to have allergies. Her eyes were swollen and she had a runny nose. Macie was the same as Sunday. Macie did not sleep well at all on Monday night. She was coughing and seemed to go down hill from where she was during the day. She ended up sleeping in the bed with me and waking me up about 15 times. But, when she woke up, she seemed fine. She was happy, so I sent her to school. Addison was back as well. Shahla, Mitzi and I went down town to the Princess Dianna exhibit. We were there about 15 minutes when the school called and said that Addison had a high fever. Macie was still okay, but she was coughing at school. Addison went to the doctor and had a bad ear infection. Yesterday afternoon, Macie started running a low fever. She had another rough night, so I decided I would go ahead and take her to the doctor just to be safe. But, I had to work in Carson's class. We had already planned for her to go to Addison's for the hour. Since they had already share the germs and had the exact same symptoms, Shahla and I thought it would be fine. The girls played and felt fine while I was gone. I told Shahla as I was leaving I would just take her to see if she too had an ear infection.

We get to the doctor and Macie is acting fine. No fever, playing and jumping around. She was still coughing but not very much, and she obviously felt fine. Imagine my surprise when we finally see the doctor and she has strep throat! She has (like Carson did) huge tonsils, so I was not surprised when they looked big and red. But, I was shocked when they said she had it. The good thing is, strep throat goes away with antibiotic and does not seem to linger. And, at least Addison is on the some antibiotic for her ear infection, so she will not be coming down with it. But, you can say a prayer that Shahla does not get it for doing me a favor.

I figure this is another vote for me in the great mom award race!

A baby story

My sweet first born celebrated his 6th birthday today. He was really the first born in our group of friends at the time. I am sure many of them have the same thought of How on earth did he get to be 6? It really does seem like just yesterday that we were headed to the hospital.

Carson was due on March 12th. In my mind he would probably be late. My sister was born late, and her first born was also late. So, I figured he would arrive about the 22nd. I was planning to work on the 8th and 9th and then get a note from the doctor to stop working. Sunday the 7th was an absolutely beautiful day (kind of like it was today). After church, we came home and worked in the yard. I was down on the ground working in the flower beds. That evening, we had canceled our small group because 2 of the couples were out of town. Jeff was doing some work down stairs, and I was going to take a bath. As soon as I got into the bath tub, I felt my water break. I was not completely sure that is what happened. I was trying to figure out how I was going to get down stairs to tell Jeff. I got downstairs and said "My water just broke." He stared at me like he did not believe me and said "You are kidding." It took a few minutes to get him to believe me. Jeff still had to get some things together, so it took a little while to get to the hospital. I was strep B positive so even though I was not really feeling contractions, I had to go into the hospital to start antibiotics. I must have called someone from work at this point too. I don't remember that detail, but since I was suppose to be working the next morning it must have happened.

We got to the hospital and were admitted. By that time I was having contractions. They gave me something to relax me and I for the most part went to sleep. It was probably about 10 or 11 by then. Jeff watched movies! I rested a little and things continued to progress. At about 3 or 4 AM I got an epidural. At that point, I went back to resting. Jeff went out of the room with my mom and Randy. While they were gone, Carson's heart rate dropped. All the nurses came running in. I was clueless as to what was happening-which was a good thing. By the time Jeff got back to the room, I had made a lot of progress and things were settled down. Sometime around 6, I was ready to push. But, Carson had not dropped all the way. The midwife came in and I pushed for a bit. Since nothing was really happening, she went to a c-section and came back a while later. The doctor came at some point and check on me as well. Basically, we were very close to having a c-section. They were also aware that C had the cord wrapped around his neck, but they did not let me know about it. After many more hours, they came back and we tried again. This time after a lot of pushing, he finally dropped and was born at 11:56AM. He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. He had a little fever and had to be taken to the nursery for a little while. But, he was only there for a short period of time.

Now, he is 6. He is such a special, sweet, smart little boy. He loves his family and is very sensitive. He is learning about Jesus and is amazing at memorizing scripture. I truly feel lucky to be his mom. I say all the time if all kids were like Carson all families would have about 10 kids. (That is until I was pregnant this time)

Spoke too soon!

So, I guess my last post came too early. Today we are having crazy snow. Carson went to school this morning, but I brought him home when I went to read to his class at 9:45. They were dismissing the buses at 10:30, so it worked out great for me to be there. Cole came home with us so Mitzi did not have to go get Cole. The roads are even bad enough that she has headed back to the preschool to get Connor and Macie. I don't think they will close, but it will be easier not to have to get back out in the snow. Now, if I only had enough laundry detergent to get all the laundry done maybe I would get something done. It does not look like the house will be picked up for Bible study, but maybe the kids will help!
