Good News
A few pieces of good news. First Dawson arrived safely and easily. After Amy's delivery of Bryce, it is a true blessing. I hope that unlike my easy to deliver 2nd, Dawson's easiness doesn't end here! I am going to see them in a bit, so maybe I will have some pictures. But, Micheal has posted on their site.
And MO is back. She shut her site down for awhile, and I was missing watching her girls. Welcome back Mo.
Finally, Carson has his eye doctors appointment this morning. He was scared, but he did great. He almost cried once when he saw the room, but he got a handle on it. He sat in my lap and had his bear so that helped. The doctor did not see anything wrong with his vision. He said he actually has better vision then they expect at this age. He does have a bit of an astigmatism. We will have to watch that as he gets older. Jeff and I both have an astigmatism so it is to be expected. The doctor checked all muscle and nerve stuff and it looked good. We don't know what the project 20/20 people saw to refer to him, but he got a good report.
Since I have not posted pictures in a couple days, these are from Carson's field trip to Cici's Pizza last week. He is playing with the dough and Macie is sitting with Carson's teacher Ms. Susan. Susan's little boy Drew is in Macie's class.

A long list
I have a feeling most of us have a long list of things we would like to do with an endless amount of money. Earlier today, I saw a commercial for laser eye surgery. Since this is on my list, it got my head going with all the things I would love to do. But, what is really important? We have been in our house for almost 6 years. So there are a ton of things that need to be done in addition to all of the things we would like to do. While we are very fortunate to still have an income in this economy, we are also wise enough not to spend it all on things that can wait. But, I still thought I would list the things I want or need to get done around here.
Paint the house ( new houses are never painted well)
Finish the basement
Replace the carpet with hardwood floor downstairs
Then get rugs for the rooms downstairs
Replace the carpet upstairs
Get closet organizers for all of our room
Fence the yard
Pave the area under our deck and get under decking so we can have a dry area
Have a few trees removed
Have a retaining wall built where some erosion has occurred
Have a landscaper create a design for our front yard
There are probably a dozen other things I could add to this list. But, for now, we will likely have out house painted and table everything else until I go back to work full time. Tell me what would be on your list.
One more thing, my friend Amy, has gone to the hospital to have baby Dawson. Her delivery the first time around was very difficult so say a prayer for her today. She was already 6 cm this morning at the doctors office so hopefully it will go fast for her. (Dawson arrived this afternoon. I don't know any details other than they are all doing well. I am sure if you click on Amy at the side she will post sometime soon.)

Kate and Basketball
Last night, Mitzi and I went to see Kate of Jon & Kate plus 8 at a local church. I love to watch the show, but it was funny to see how crazy some of the fans were. I admit I would enjoy sitting down to chat with her, but I did not think it was worth waiting an hour for a quick autograph!
I tried to edit the above picture. It did make it a little brighter. If you compare the two, you might be able to see the difference.
It was interesting to hear what she had to say. She talked about how they started speaking to let people know about their faith. Their show has edited almost all of that out, but it is important to them. It was also interesting to hear how little they had when she was pregnant with the 6 babies. Jon lost his job when he transferred their insurance to his company when she was pregnant. So, they had no income while she was pregnant. She did not go into all the details, but she talked about how she had to learn that God is in control and she is not!
One last picture just because it is cute. This is Jeff and Macie working on her basketball brackets this week. Carson is already out because he picked FSU to go all the way!

Trying to figure it out
This is Carson's birthday cake. Well, it is a bunch of cupcakes. But, I made it and I think it turned out okay for someone with no talent!I have been trying to figure out my Photo shop program I got for my birthday. I can not get it to do anything I want it to do. I was trying to make a picture smaller so I can load it here and not use so much space. I can make it smaller, but then I could not find them when I looked for them. Now, I think I might have found them, but it is hard to tell. I need a personal tutor. (Amy you need to come help me in the next couple of days before your life is filled with a new baby)
In the mean time, here is a picture of Macie and Addison playing yesterday. It cracks me up that Addison is dressed as Tinker Bell and Macie is in her nightgown. (the night gown is another story to tell!)

Carson's appintment
Carson had his 5 year check up yesterday. (His birthday was Sunday with a party on Saturday-I will post pictures soon). After last years experience, I scheduled the appointment so I could leave Macie at home. Jeff's mom was in for the weekend so she kept Macie.
Other than not having Macie with us, this year was no better than last year! He let them weigh him and check his height. Then they let him check his vision. But, he would not do the hearing because he was scared. Then they tried to check his blood pressure. He would not do it. He was scared to death. He said he would let the doctor, but it never got checked. I am sure it would have been sky high from all the screaming if they had gotten it. Luckily, it was checked when he had his tonsils out so we don't have to worry. He finally let them check his hearing, but it took some convincing. Then they did a finger prick with a lot more screaming. Finally, he had 2 shots. I had to hold him down. It was not fun. But, we are done with shots for a long time and ready for kindergarten.
Here are his stats:
Height 44 3/4 inches (83rd percentile)
Weight 38.4 pounds (32nd percentile)
BMI 13.4 less than 5 percentile
He has actaully gained a couple of pounds since he had his tonsils out in January. (Of course in the hospital he was wearing a gown and yesterday he had on clothes so that could account for some of the weight) Maybe next year he will be classified as healthy rather then underweight!
On Thursday, Project 20/20 came to the preschool to test the kids eyes. I had Carson's done because he has never been to the eye doctor. I should have just taken him to the eye doctor becasue they have referred us. He did fine on the eye chart, but they saw something off when they looked more cloesly. I don't know what they did, but we will be going to see the eye doctor soon and praying it goes better than the pediatrician!

Not something I would like to repeat.
I spent the weekend with my mom, sister and Mitzi at a Women's Retreat in Myrtle Beach. It was a great weekend, but Mitzi and I had terrible weather coming home. Once we crossed into Georgia, it started snowing. At first, it was not so bad, but there were sometime when it was a little frightening. Here are a few pictures (Mitzi took the pictures since I was driving)
If you look closely, you can see I am only driving about 15-20 miles per hour. This was on the highway, and we were not stopped in traffic.
Just as we got to 285, this is what we saw. It was really amazing. When we took the picture we were still in the snow. A couple of miles back the road had been really bad, so we were very excited to see the sun.
I am hoping the video will load and work for you. Mitzi decided you could see the conditions better in the video.
We are thankful we made it home safely. We will happily go back to the retreat, but next year we hope it will be warm and sunny!
