Baseball and Decades

For now, we are planning to go to our friends house tomorrow and make tie dyed shirts for Friday. If I can find some of his jeans with holes, I will cut those off and he will go dressed as the 60s. I had thought about trying to make him some JAMS, but tomorrow is too busy to buy fabric and get them made. Too bad, he would have looked super cute.

We are planning to sign Carson up for baseball this fall. He says he wants to play soccer, but I really think it is just because he has already played that. After he tries this, we will hat his opinion seems to be. The whole thing is freaking me out a little. He is 4 years old, but he will count as 5 because he will be 5 by May 2009. We are hoping they will let him play with Carter, but they say they don't take player requests. The coaches draft the teams so they do not have to pick two players to play together. It is really crazy that it all starts this young. Part of me wants to say forget it, he loves to swim he can just do that all his life. But, I also think we need to let him try different things. He is always afraid of things until he has done them. I feel like we need to encourage him to find what he really likes. I also feel like if we wait a few years he will really be behind. How has it gotten to the point where kids have to start sports before Kindergarten to not loose ground to all the other kids?

Stay tuned...the season starts with player evaluations at the end of August. I am sure it will all be fine. (It has to be better than the disorganized soccer league from last year!) It is all just a little crazy right now!

Sandy-
I was LITERALLY just thinking about this today as I drove by a church and saw a sign that said soccer sign ups. I had the same conversation in my head. Who knows what we'll do when the time comes. One good thing is I guess Bryce wouldn't count as being on the 5 year old team because his bday is late June. Maybe that will buy us another year...I don't know how these things work. I really am floored that the do evaluations at this age. Isn't there just a "fun" team?
