Five Months

Sweet Ellie is 5 months today. Knowing that I don't plan to have another baby makes me think how quickly the time is going. The last month has flown past us.
I love this stage with Ellie. She has found her toes and loves to stick them in her mouth. She loves to chew on anything she can get into her hands. You can see her two front teeth under her gums, but they are taking their sweet time pushing through. She is still a good sleeper most of the time, but she has had a few rough nights lately. I am not sure what the problem has been, but it makes me very thankful for the nights when she sleeps well.

If we are home, she will take good naps. You can tell by her little whine that she is ready to go down for a nap. Lots of times if you cradle her and bounce for about 2 seconds her eyes will already be closed when you lie her down. Other times, she will cry for a few minutes and need her pacifier. Then there are some times when I will cradle her and rock her and just enjoy the times of her being a baby. I know she will not fit in my arms like this for much longer.

The next big event for her is starting food. We are going to be gone for a bit, so I decided to wait until we come home. She is wanting to nurse a lot during the day and watches everyone else eat, so I think she is probably ready. I might wait a few more weeks just because it adds something else to work into her day.

We don't have a doctors appointment, so we have to go with me weighing her at home. Our scale has her at about 13 pounds. I think she looks really big and then I see other babies close to her age. She seems like she is long and lean like her brother (Although Carson was over 13 pounds at 2 months!).

I thought you would enjoy a few of the funny pictures I got today. She is already trying to move and get into things.

Hey! Thanks for all of your encouraging comments. It sounds like Ellie and Emery are a lot alike. Emery sleeps great in her crib tightly swaddled, but not so much when we are out an about. Thankfully they have her figured out at daycare, and she is starting to take good naps there. They only have six babies in her room, so it's pretty quiet most of the time. She also sleeps between 6-8 hours at night...it all depends on if she drinks all of her bottle before bedtime at 830 or 900pm. I started giving her a bottle of pumped milk at night so I'd know exactly how much she was getting. She needs close to six ounces to sleep 7-8 hours. Unfortunately the past several nights she hasn't taken more than 4 ounces and has been up at 3am, but she's a fast nurser and has usually eaten and is back to sleep in less than 15 minutes. And I don't mind getting up with her because most mornings I don't get to see her before I leave at 630am! Hope you guys are doing well!

The pictures are very sweet. Tell her that Grandma misses her already.
