Sickies and Great Mom Award

The last couple of days Macie has been coughing. She has always had a tendency to get bad coughs. But, this winter she has done fairly well. Sunday morning, she woke up and was coughing just a bit. Certainly nothing to be concerned about, but just enough to think we should watch it. On Monday she was about the same. Her BFF Addison, stayed home from school because she appeared to have allergies. Her eyes were swollen and she had a runny nose. Macie was the same as Sunday. Macie did not sleep well at all on Monday night. She was coughing and seemed to go down hill from where she was during the day. She ended up sleeping in the bed with me and waking me up about 15 times. But, when she woke up, she seemed fine. She was happy, so I sent her to school. Addison was back as well. Shahla, Mitzi and I went down town to the Princess Dianna exhibit. We were there about 15 minutes when the school called and said that Addison had a high fever. Macie was still okay, but she was coughing at school. Addison went to the doctor and had a bad ear infection. Yesterday afternoon, Macie started running a low fever. She had another rough night, so I decided I would go ahead and take her to the doctor just to be safe. But, I had to work in Carson's class. We had already planned for her to go to Addison's for the hour. Since they had already share the germs and had the exact same symptoms, Shahla and I thought it would be fine. The girls played and felt fine while I was gone. I told Shahla as I was leaving I would just take her to see if she too had an ear infection.

We get to the doctor and Macie is acting fine. No fever, playing and jumping around. She was still coughing but not very much, and she obviously felt fine. Imagine my surprise when we finally see the doctor and she has strep throat! She has (like Carson did) huge tonsils, so I was not surprised when they looked big and red. But, I was shocked when they said she had it. The good thing is, strep throat goes away with antibiotic and does not seem to linger. And, at least Addison is on the some antibiotic for her ear infection, so she will not be coming down with it. But, you can say a prayer that Shahla does not get it for doing me a favor.

I figure this is another vote for me in the great mom award race!
